Green Week 2026: Trinity gathers to celebrate leadership in sustainability
Posted on: 05 March 2026
This will be Trinity’s 24th Green Week, a time when our community gathers to put a spotlight on sustainability through talks, events and workshops. There are over 20 events to choose from, including the inaugural Sustainability Leadership Awards as the unofficial kick-off on Monday 9 March.
Popular events that have returned this year include behind-the-scenes campus tours with Biodiversity Officer Collie Ennis, a free bike repair clinic, a daily swap shop and a repair café, where you can enjoy a cup of tea while professionals fix your small electronics and household items. Trinity Catering is putting on a meat-free lunch on Monday and providing a 10% discount on take-away food if you bring a reusable container.
There are talks on Tackling the Biodiversity Crisis with Vice President for Biodiversity and Climate Action Jane Stout, and Sustainability Manager Jane Hackett is hosting a panel discussion on Climate Mis/Disinformation in the media with guest journalist Shane Raymond (Journal.ie) alongside Trinity students and staff members.
Students will benefit from the Careers Panel featuring a wide variety of professionals working in the sector and there is a workshop for students to learn how to be activists for active and sustainable travel hosted by Claire Byrne, Sustainable Travel Officer. Dublin City Council will be on hand in the Atrium to talk about the Grow College Green project.
Jane Hackett adds: “Green Week can be a great way for you to start getting involved with sustainability issues. Every year we see people making connections, getting ideas and going on to become active in their own communities and studies. Show up, have a chat and you never know where it will lead!”
This is just a snapshot of the week, so we invite you to view all the events on the Sustainability Events Calendar here. We hope to see you throughout the week and meet some new faces!
